PCCI, DOST ink pact to promote ST, digital entrepreneurship

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) forged a partnership to promote business innovation and digital entrepreneurship in the country.

 

At the virtual signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), PCCI President George T. Barcelon underscored the importance of the partnership to promote technology transfer and assist MSMEs migrate toward industry 4.0.

 

“This is an agreement that comes after many years of working together, and at an opportune time, when we in the business sector are on a rebound and are pivoting to grow with better resilience and enhanced sustainability,” Barcelon said.


Barcelon said that technology transfer and commercialization could further enhance the capabilities of industries and MSMEs and could lead to business growth and sustainability.

 

“We are taking our partnership to the next level as we pursue technology transfer and the commercialization of DOST-generated technologies,” he added.

 

DOST Secretary Fortunate Dela Pena said that the DOST is committed to maximizing science and technology to spur national development and grow MSMEs.

 

The DOST has been PCCI’s partner in various initiatives that advance the development and competitiveness of MSMEs in technology and innovation such as the Alfredo M. Yao Entrepreneurship Award, which recognizes outstanding and patentable, and commercially viable inventions and innovations.  Likewise, the DOST also supports the Young Entrepreneurs and the BIDA Awards.
