The main responsibility of PCCI is to provide focused advocacy for business growth and sustainable development by providing business services for the advancement of grassroots entrepreneurship, chamber development, international trade relations, business innovation and excellence, and operating efficiency. These will be achieved through a professional organization working in close cooperation with various stakeholders in public and private sectors.
PCCI, KANKEIREN eye more collaboration on trade, investment

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Kansai Economic Federation (KANKEIREN) - Asia Business Creation Platform vowed to work closely to effectively expand the commercial and investment partnership between the Philippines and Japanese companies in key areas including agriculture, tourism, human resources development, MSMEs and start-ups.
In a meeting recently, PCCI President George T. Barcelon and Katsuhiko Ushiba, program manager of KANKEIREN-ABCP agreed to undertake business exchanges and cooperation that would bring more opportunities for Philippine and Japanese companies.
Barcelon emphasized PCCI’s long-standing relations with KANKEIREN and assured them of its utmost support to the Asia Business Creation Platform’s mission towards business generation between the Kansai region and the Philippines.
He also requested the ABC Secretariat to provide PCCI with more details regarding the 2nd ABC General Membership Meeting to be held in Singapore in March 2023 to enable the Chamber to prepare and participate.
Perry Ferrer, PCCI vice president for industrial affairs, cited specific steps necessary to ensure the accomplishment of goals and the teaming up with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine Embassy in Japan, the Department of Migrant Workers, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to shore up support to PCCI’s programs with KANKEIREN.
As a proven job generator, Alegria Limjoco, PCCI past president and advisor suggested to ABCP the inclusion of franchising in the SME TWG priorities.
The meeting was also attended Chit Arce, special assistant to the PCCI President; Edwin R. Glindro, PCCI assistant secretary-general for International and Regional Affairs; Lyn Gabionza, PCCI manager for International Affairs Department; and Kojiro Miyamoto of KANKEIREN. --- Lyn Gabionza
