PCCI President George T. Barcelon recently conferred with the Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye the need to review the bilateral ties between the Philippines and Nigeria and to undertake concrete steps to foster business exchanges with Nigerian business people.

 

As one of the largest African economies, Amb. Akinleye said that the time is ripe to create dynamic relations with the Philippines in the areas of Pharmacy/Healthcare, Mining, and Franchising, Agriculture, Oil and Gas.

 

Mr. Barcelon invited Amb. Akinleye and the Nigerian business organizations to attend its 48th Philippine Business Conference and Expo in October to establish contacts and connect with potential business partners in the country.  He also proposed to organize seminars during the PBC to increase bilateral and regional alliances as well.

 

The two also talked about the potential creation of a working group that will oversee the activities of PCCI with Nigeria and formation of Philippines-Nigeria Business Council.

 

Joining the meeting were Past President/Advisor Ms. Alegria S. Limjoco,  Vice President/Director Nina V. Mangio, Special Assistant to the PCCI President Chit Arce, Secretary-General for International and Regional Affairs Edwin R. Glindro and Manager for International Affairs Ms. Lyn Gabionza.   Mr. Oladipo John Ajayi, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Nigeria was also present during the dialogue. --- Graciella Flores
